Regular Season Round 27: Aistes-LSU - Utena 62-63

The most exciting game of round 27 in the LMKL took place in Kaunas. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 4th placed LKKA-Aistes (9-14) to sixth ranked Utena (7-16) 63-62 on Friday evening. LKKA-Aistes was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 18-14 charge of Utena, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely LKKA-Aistes outrebounded Utena 39-23 including a 19-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Utena especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. It was a great evening for guard Asta Daujadiene (176-73) who led her team to a victory scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Giedre Kirstukaite (190-86) helped adding 17 points. The best for the losing side was guard Santa Okockyte (176-92) with 21 points and 9 assists and forward Kriste Druskyte (181-92) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. LKKA-Aistes' coach Aurimas Jasilionis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Utena maintains sixth place with 7-16 record. LKKA-Aistes at the other side keeps the fourth position with 14 games lost. Utena are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Ruta Siauliai (#7) on the road in the next round. LKKA-Aistes will have a break next round.
