Regular Season Round 22: Galatasaray - Turk Telekom 61-50
Date: March 19, 2011
Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Turk Telekom (8-14) lost to second ranked Galatasaray (18-4) in Istanbul 50-61 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 11 points. Galatasaray dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Turk Telekom's 20. Croatian center Luksa Andric (210-85, agency: Beo Basket) notched 13 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and American swingman Joshua Shipp (196-86, college: UCLA) supported him with 8 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds by American power forward KZell Wesson (201-77, college: La Salle) did not help to save the game for Turk Telekom. His fellow American import guard Jerome Randle (178-87, college: California) added 12 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Galatasaray have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 18-4 record behind leader Fener.Ulker. Turk Telekom lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Galatasaray will meet Banvit (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Turk Telekom will play against Efes Pilsen (#5) in Istanbul and hope to secure a win.
