Very predictable result in Ankara where fifth ranked Efes Pilsen (16-7) defeated 10th ranked Turk Telekom (8-15) 88-80 on Friday. Turk Telekom trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 24-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 80-88 at the end of the game. It was a great evening for Serbian guard Igor Rakocevic (191-78) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). American guard Marvis Thornton (194-77, college: St.John's) helped adding 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Efes Pilsen players scored in double figures. American guard Jerome Randle (178-87, college: California) responded with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Ceyhun Altay (196-86, agency: Court Side) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Efes Pilsen moved-up to fourth place. Turk Telekom lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. Efes Pilsen will face higher ranked Banvit (#3) in Balikesir in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Turk Telekom will play on the road against Mersin (#15) in Akdeniz.
