Regular Season Round 20: Fisica - Alges 71-80

The most important game in the last round took place in Torres Vedras between second ranked Fisica (14-6) and tenth ranked Alges (7-13) on Saturday night. Fisica was defeated by Alges in a tough game at home 71-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fisica. Fisica trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 20-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-80 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Fisica 34-23 including a 27-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Angolan forward Sergio Correia (197-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Silvester Spicer (198-86, college: Rogers St.) who added 29 points and 5 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) during the contest. American power forward Jason Underwood (206-84, college: Centenary) responded with 28 points and 6 rebounds and guard Miguel Salvador (187-81) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Alges moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Guifoes. Fisica at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. They share it with Angra. Alges is looking forward to face higher ranked Terceira Basket (#7) in Angra Heroismo in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fisica will play at home against the league's second-placed Angrabasket (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
