Very predictable result when sixth ranked Penafiel (10-10) defeated at home bottom-ranked Barreirense (3-17) 84-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Penafiel. Barreirense was better in fourth quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Penafiel forced 22 Barreirense turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Jeremy Goode (175-87, college: Mt.St.Mary's) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 assists and center Andrais Thornton (203-85, college: NW Missouri St.) who added 22 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Guard Garrison Johnson (196-88, college: Jackson St., agency: Strategic Sports) responded with 22 points and forward Tyrone Curnell (201-88, college: Valdosta St., agency: Strategic Sports) scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Barreirense's coach Arturo Alvarez rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Penafiel moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ovarense. Barreirense lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Penafiel will face Ginasio (#9) in Figueira da Foz in the next round. Barreirense will play on the road against Vitoria SC in Guimaraes.
