Regular Season Round 20: Lusitania - Illiabum 96-91

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Angra where 10th ranked Illiabum (6-14) was defeated by eleventh ranked Lusitania (6-14) 96-91 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-10. But Illiabum won second period 28-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward James Robert (203-86, college: Dowling) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 18 rebounds and guard Daniel Monteiro (182-82) who added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists during the contest. Robert is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American swingman Ricondo Crutchfield (200-78, college: Philadelphia, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) responded with 29 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import power forward Evan Harris (206-86, college: Harvard, agency: Basket Law/NM Services) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Lusitania moved-up to tenth place, which they share with defeated Illiabum. Lusitania will face higher ranked CAB (#7) in Funchal in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
