An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Ruse. Top-ranked Dunav 2007 faced second-ranked Academik Plovdiv. Host Dunav 2007 (18-0) smashed guests from Plovdiv (12-4) 118-91. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Academik Plovdiv. The game without a history. Dunav 2007 led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 25-of-28 charity shots (89.3 percent) during the game. Dunav 2007 forced 24 Academik Plovdiv turnovers and outrebounded them 33-20 including 22 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Dunav 2007 players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Power forward Vladimir Nikolov (205-88, college: Garrett JC) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Guard Ventsislav Petkov (188-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 assists for the winners. Five Dunav 2007 players scored in double figures. Dunav 2007's coach Nikolay Gospodinov felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Martin Horozov (200-86) replied with 36 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and forward Krasimir Georgiev (198-89) added 19 points and 5 assists in the effort for Academik Plovdiv. Dunav 2007 have an impressive 17-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 18-0 record. Newly promoted Academik Plovdiv keeps the second place with four games lost. Dunav 2007 will play against bottom-ranked Academic Blagoevgrad (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Academik Plovdiv will play against Balkan 2 (#7) in Botevgrad and hopes to get back on the winning track.
