Regular Season Round 44: Azovmash - Halychyna 75-81

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Azovmash (27-16) against eleventh ranked Halychyna (15-29) on Monday night. Host Azovmash was defeated by Halychyna in a tough game in Mariupol 75-81. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-14. But Azovmash won third quarter 20-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Americans were the main players on the court. The winners were led by forward Alan Wiggins (206-85, college: USF) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and center Harold Jamison (204-76, college: Clemson) supported him with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Five Halychyna players scored in double figures. Even 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by power forward Demetrius Alexander (204-75, college: Alabama) did not help to save the game for Azovmash. Guard Ramel Curry (191-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) added 18 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Halychyna maintains eleventh position with 15-29 record. Defending champion Azovmash keeps the third place with 16 games lost. Halychyna will play against higher ranked BC Odessa (#10) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Azovmash will play against the league's second-placed Budivelnyk (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
