Regular Season Round 44: BC Donetsk - Ferro-ZNTU 87-78

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked BC Donetsk as it allowed them to take a leadership position. BC Donetsk defeated 6th ranked Ferro-ZNTU at home 87-78. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Ferro-ZNTU won third quarter 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BC Donetsk dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Ferro-ZNTU's 20. They outrebounded Ferro-ZNTU 39-26 including 18 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward J.K. Edwards (202-82, college: UNLV) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Serbian-Bosnian guard Sasa Vasiljevic (183-79, agency: Beo Basket) who added 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. BC Donetsk's coach Sasa Obradovic used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center R.T. Guinn (208-81, college: Baylor) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Vincent Hunter (208-84, college: Arkansas) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. BC Donetsk have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Ferro-ZNTU at the other side dropped to the fifth place with 20 games lost. They share the position with Mykolaiv. Ferro-ZNTU will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. BC Donetsk will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Dnipro in Dnepropetrovsk.
