Fifteenth-ranked Miercurea (5-24) gave a tough game to twelfth ranked CSM Bucuresti (12-17) on Wednesday. CSM Bucuresti managed to secure only four-point victory 134-130. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Miercurea. Miercurea trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 44-31 run in the last quarter tied the game at the end of regular time, But then they lost eventually overtime period 20-24. CSM Bucuresti shot 60.8 percent from the field and made 32-of-39 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Serbian power forward Branislav Tomic (205-80) who scored 43 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line !!!). The former international guard Mihail-Octavian Paul (192-82) chipped in 23 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. American guard Clevin Hannah (180-87, college: Wichita St., agency: Court Side) produced 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists and American-Mexican guard Enrico Tucker (180, college: San Diego) added 30 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. CSM Bucuresti maintains twelfth place with 12-17 record. Newly promoted Miercurea dropped to the fourteenth position with 24 games lost. They share it with Politehnica Iasi. CSM Bucuresti will meet Craiova (#13) on the road in the next round. Miercurea will play against Politehnica Iasi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
