Regular Season Round 24: Tofas - Bornova 73-70
Date: April 2, 2011
A very interesting game took place in Bursa. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 14th ranked Bornova (7-17) to tenth ranked Tofas (9-15) 73-70 on Saturday evening. The hosts were already 19 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 26-10 Bornova's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 73-70 at the end of the game. The winners were led by forward Ilkan Karaman (205-90) who scored that evening 16 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Jason Rowe (178-78, college: Loyola, MD) supported him with 19 points and 4 assists. Even 12 points and 8 rebounds by Jamaican center Kimani Ffriend (211-77, college: Nebraska, agency: Court Side) did not help to save the game for Bornova. American forward Tyler Smith (201-86, college: Tennessee) added 10 points and 7 rebounds. Bornova's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tofas moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Trabzonspor and Erdemir. Bornova at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. Tofas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Bursa to the arena Oyak Renault.
