No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Kirchheim Knights (14-13) smashed on the road 14th ranked USC Freiburg (9-18) 94-73 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 94-73. Kirchheim Knights dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to USC Freiburg's 50. They outrebounded USC Freiburg 49-37 including 20 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Marcus Smallwood (198-82, college: N.Illinois, agency: Court Side) who had a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 20 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 18-of-22 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Cedric Brooks (185-80, college: Pittsburg St.) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Janis Heindel (199-83) who recorded 13 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Paul Gause (180-86, college: Seton Hall) added 9 points and 6 assists respectively. USC Freiburg's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Kirchheim Knights moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Webmoebel and Crailsheim. Loser USC Freiburg keeps the fourteenth position with 18 games lost. Kirchheim Knights will face USC Heidelberg (#12) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. USC Freiburg will play against Crailsheim Merlins.
