Regular Season Round 24: Karsiyaka - Oyak Renault 82-60

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Oyak Renault (3-21) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Karsiyaka (16-8) 82-60 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-60. Karsiyaka dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Oyak Renault's 34. The best player for the winners was American forward Andre Smith (203-85, college: N.Dakota St.) who scored 24 points and 9 rebounds. Guard David Holston (170-86, college: Chicago St.) chipped in 13 points and 9 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Rammel Allen (210-79, college: Bridgeport) who recorded 12 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import guard William Conroy (187-82, college: Washington, agency: ZAG Advocates) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Karsiyaka moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Besiktas. Oyak Renault lost eighth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Karsiyaka will face league's leader Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Oyak Renault's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Bursa Tofas.
