Regular Season Round 21: CAB Madeira - Lusitania 91-81

No shocking result in a game in Funchal where seventh ranked CAB (10-11) defeated 10th ranked Lusitania (6-15) 91-81. It looked good early as Lusitania took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then CAB had a 30-19 second period charge getting the lead and Lusitania was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-91. CAB forced 28 Lusitania turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American guard Nathan Menefee (182-85, college: Evergreen St., agency: RIZO) nailed 28 points, 7 assists and 6 steals for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Frederick Gentry (201-77, college: McNeese St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) accounted for 25 points and 9 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). Naturalized American forward Rick Cardoso (201-85, college: Cal.St.-Stanislaus) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds and forward Mohamed Camara (196-83) added 18 points respectively for Lusitania in the defeat. CAB moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Penafiel and Ovarense. Newly promoted Lusitania keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. CAB's next round opponent will be league's leader FC Porto Ferpinta on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lusitania will play against Vitoria SC (#4) in Guimaraes.
