Regular Season Round 28: Nevezis - Dzukija 90-74

Very expected game when 13th ranked Alytus Alita (2-19) lost to ninth ranked Nevezis (8-13) in Kedainiai 74-90 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Nevezis. Alytus Alita managed to win fourth quarter 23-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nevezis dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Alytus Alita's 42. They outrebounded Alytus Alita 50-32 including 18 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by naturalized Swiss guard Rolandas Alijevas (192-85) who scored that evening 28 points and 9 rebounds and guard Vytenis Cizauskas (190-92) supported him with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Nevezis' coach Rimas Girskis used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds by center Saulius Dumbliauskas (203-81, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: Court Side) did not help to save the game for Alytus Alita. Guard Aurimas Birgelis (190-88) added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for lost side. Four Alytus Alita players scored in double figures. Nevezis maintains ninth position with 8-13 record. Alytus Alita lost fifth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 19 lost games. Nevezis will meet Naglis-Adakris (#12) in the next round. Alytus Alita will play against Sakalai in Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
