Regular Season Round 45: Hoverla - Khimik 76-73

Twelfth-ranked Khimik (14-30) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Hoverla (28-17) in Frankivsk. Hoverla managed to secure only three-point victory 76-73. However their fans expected much easier game. After very bad start, Khimik stormed back in the second period cutting the deficit to 2 points 42-40. But it was not enough and Hoverla took back the control in second half. Hoverla outrebounded Khimik 41-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Khimik helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. Center Eric Coleman (200-85, college: N.Iowa, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winning side and guard Jeremy Chappell (191-87, college: Robert Morris, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) accounted for 15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Hoverla's coach Evgeni Murzin allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Guard Curtis Millage (185-81, college: Arizona St.) came up with 31 points (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field) and forward Akida McLain (206-86, college: Indiana, PA) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Khimik in the defeat. Hoverla maintains fourth place with 28-17 record. Khimik at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 30 games lost. Hoverla's next round opponent will be Mykolaiv (#5) in Mykolaiv. Khimik will play on the road against Halychyna (#11) in Lviv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
