An interesting game for Lietuvos Rytas (18-4) which hosted in Vilnius 4th ranked Siauliai (13-8). Second ranked Lietuvos Rytas had an easy win 86-65. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Siauliai. The game was mostly controlled by Lietuvos Rytas. Siauliai managed to win third quarter 21-20. Lietuvos Rytas outrebounded Siauliai 42-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Lietuvos Rytas made 9 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of center Jonas Valanciunas (210-92) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 9 rebounds. International swingman Simas Jasaitis (202-82) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Lietuvos Rytas players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains second position with 18-4 record having four points less than leader Zalgiris. Siauliai at the other side keeps the fourth place with eight games lost. Lietuvos Rytas are looking forward to face Techasas (#5) in Panevezys in the next round. Siauliai will play at home against Juventus in Utena and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
