A very interesting game took place in Kaunas. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 11th ranked Sakalai (7-16) to tenth ranked Aiscai Kaunas (8-15) 87-85 in the fight for the tenth place. Sakalai was ahead by 14 points after three quarters before a 29-13 charge of Aiscai Kaunas, which allowed them to win the game. They made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Aiscai Kaunas forced 21 Sakalai turnovers. Strangely Sakalai outrebounded Aiscai Kaunas 40-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. 27 personal fouls committed by Sakalai helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Rokas Uzas (202-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 4 assists. The former international center Povilas Cukinas (210-83) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Center Rolandas Matulis (199-73) answered with 15 points and 7 rebounds and guard Ovidijus Varanauskas (187-91) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Sakalai. Five Aiscai Kaunas and four Sakalai players scored in double figures. Sakalai's coach Rutenis Paulauskas tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Aiscai Kaunas maintains tenth place with 8-15 record. Sakalai lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Aiscai Kaunas' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Lietuvos Rytas in Vilnius and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sakalai will play on the road against Rudupis (#3) in Prienai.
