Regular Season Round 29: Neptunas - Siauliai 78-76

The most exciting game of round 29 in the LKL took place in Klaipeda. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Siauliai (14-9) to eighth ranked Neptunas (10-13) 78-76 on Friday evening. Siauliai was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 23-15 charge of Neptunas, which allowed them to win the game. 29 personal fouls committed by Siauliai helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Swingman Mantas Ruikis (198-85) stepped up and scored 22 points for the winners and the former international forward Valdas Vasylius (203-83, college: ODU) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Center Vytautas Sarakauskas (203-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and American-Samoan guard Rashaun Broadus (182-84, college: BYU) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Siauliai's coach Antanas Sireika rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Neptunas moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Perlas. Siauliai at the other side keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Neptunas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Siauliai will play at home against the league's leader Zalgiris (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
