Very expected game in Lviv where 10th ranked Halychyna (17-30) was defeated by fifth ranked Mykolaiv (25-20) 83-79 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Halychyna won third quarter 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mykolaiv forced 19 Halychyna turnovers. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was guard Justin Love (188-78, college: St.Louis) who scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Swingman Brian Greene (196-83, college: Florida A&M) chipped in 16 points. Forward Alan Wiggins (206-85, college: USF) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and guard Todd Abernethy (185-84, college: Mississippi) added 16 points, 6 assists and 4 steals respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Mykolaiv maintains fifth place with 25-20 record. Loser Halychyna dropped to the eleventh position with 30 games lost. Mykolaiv will meet Ferro-ZNTU (#6) in the next round. Halychyna will have a break next round.
