Regular Season Round 30: Duesseldorf - Telekom Baskets 68-64

Date: April 8, 2011
Bottom-ranked Gloria Giants managed to get a fifth victory, breaking the two-game losing streak. This time they won against tenth-ranked Telekom Baskets in Duesseldorf 68-64. It looked good early as Telekom Baskets took an 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gloria Giants took control winning next two quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 4 points. They made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Bosnian center Esmir Rizvic (213-82, college: Texas Tech) notched 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American guard Steven Wright (191-83, college: N.Kentucky, agency: Court Side) supported him with 18 points and 4 assists. Even 20 points by American guard Nic Wise (178-87, college: Arizona) did not help to save the game for Telekom Baskets. His fellow American import center Chris Ensminger (209-73, college: Valparaiso, agency: Limelight Hoops) added 8 points and 7 rebounds. Telekom Baskets' coach Michael Koch rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gloria Giants maintains eighteenth position with 5-25 record. Telekom Baskets at the other side keep the tenth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Goettingen. Gloria Giants will play against higher ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (#9) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Telekom Baskets will play against the league's leader Brose Baskets where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
