Important game to mention about took place in Essen. Eleventh ranked ETB Wohnbau (11-17) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 15th ranked Science City Jena (8-20) 70-67 on Saturday evening. The hosts were already 12 points ahead at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 28-16 last quarter charge of Science City Jena cut the lead to 70-67 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Chris Alexander (186-83, college: Southern) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 4 assists and the other American import forward Steven Esterkamp (198-81, college: Ohio, agency: Limelight Hoops) who added 12 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four ETB Wohnbau players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Larry Cunningham (190-85, college: Cal-Riverside, agency: Limelight Hoops) responded with 23 points and power forward Christoph Roquette (203-82) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. ETB Wohnbau have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Heidelberg and Hannover. Science City Jena lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 20 games lost. ETB Wohnbau will play against Hannover Tigers (#11) in Hannover in the next round. Science City Jena will play at home against Kirchheim Knights (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
