Regular Season Round 25: Turk Telekom - Trabzonspor 84-75

There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Turk Telekom (9-16) defeated 10th ranked Trabzonspor (9-16) in Ankara 84-75 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 16-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-75. Turk Telekom dominated on the defensive end, holding Trabzonspor to just 5 points in second quarter. American power forward KZell Wesson (201-77, college: La Salle) nailed a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and swingman Ceyhun Altay (196-86, agency: Court Side) accounted for 16 points. Four Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. Turk Telekom's coach Faruk Akagun used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Ali Karadeniz (203-80, college: Arizona) came up with 23 points and the other American import guard Alvin Snow (188-81, college: E.Washington) added 13 points and 6 assists respectively for Trabzonspor in the defeat. Turk Telekom moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Trabzonspor and Erdemir. Turk Telekom will meet at home higher ranked Banvit (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Trabzonspor will play against Antalya (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
