Eighth-ranked Cherno More U18 (7-13) made lots of trouble for second ranked Academik Plovdiv (15-5) in Varna on Sunday. The visitors from Plovdiv managed to secure only seven-point victory 98-91. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cherno More U18 won third quarter 32-30. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Cherno More U18 used huge pressure winning it 18-14 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 9-16. Academik Plovdiv forced 25 Cherno More U18 turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Forward Martin Horozov (200-86) fired a double-double by scoring 32 points and 22 rebounds for the winners. Guard Asen Nikolov (182-75) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 6 rebounds and 16 assists. Forward Nikolay Stoyanov (195-94) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and center Denislav Vutev (206-94) added 22 points and 14 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Academik Plovdiv have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Academik Plovdiv maintains second position with 15-5 record having five points less than leader Dunav 2007, which they share with Beroe. Cherno More U18 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth place with 13 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
