There was no surprise in Dniprodzerzhynsk where 9th ranked DniproAzot (19-27) was defeated by third ranked Azovmash (29-17) 69-58 on Tuesday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Chris Owens (204-79, college: Texas, agency: Pro One Sports) who helped to win the game recording 9 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import power forward Demetrius Alexander (204-75, college: Alabama) who added 16 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Azovmash players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Canadian power forward Michael Fraser (203-84, college: Oklahoma Baptist, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Lamar Karim (178-83, college: So.Poly State, agency: Interperformances) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains third position with 29-17 record having six points less than leader Budivelnyk. Loser DniproAzot keeps the ninth place with 27 games lost. Azovmash will meet Mykolaiv (#5) in the next round. DniproAzot will play against Hoverla (#4) in Frankivsk and hope to secure a win.
