Regular Season Round 50: Mykolaiv - DniproAzot 64-58
Date: April 17, 2011
Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Mykolaiv (28-20) defeated at home 9th ranked DniproAzot (19-29) 64-58 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But DniproAzot won fourth quarter 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mykolaiv made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mykolaiv made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Justin Love (188-78, college: St.Louis) who scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. The former international guard Igor Silkovskyy (194-85) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Sergiy Gorbenko (200-85) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Lamar Karim (178-83, college: So.Poly State, agency: Interperformances) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mykolaiv have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 28-20 record.
