Regular Season Round 27: Fener.Ulker - Galatasaray 83-80

The most exciting game of round 27 in the TBL took place in Istanbul. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-best Galatasaray (21-6) to first ranked Fenerbahce Ulker (24-3) 83-80 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Galatasaray. The game without a history. Fenerbahce Ulker led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Fenerbahce Ulker outrebounded Galatasaray 39-21 including 27 on the defensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by Galatasaray helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international center Oguz Savas (208-87) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Croatian guard Marko Tomas (201-85) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Croatian center Luksa Andric (210-85, agency: Beo Basket) who recorded 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and Slovakian power forward Radoslav Rancik (207-79, college: St.Cloud St., agency: Beo Basket) added 20 points respectively. Five Fenerbahce Ulker and four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Galatasaray's coach Oktay Mahmudi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fenerbahce Ulker have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 24-3 record. Galatasaray at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Fenerbahce Ulker are looking forward to face Efes Pilsen (#3) in Istanbul in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Galatasaray will play at home against Besiktas in Istanbul and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
