Regular Season Round 28: Turk Telekom - Bornova 74-67
Date: April 23, 2011
Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Bornova (7-21) lost to ninth ranked Turk Telekom (11-17) in Ankara 67-74 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Bornova won fourth quarter 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward KZell Wesson (201-77, college: La Salle) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. The other American import guard Jerome Randle (178-87, college: California) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. Jamaican center Kimani Ffriend (211-77, college: Nebraska, agency: Court Side) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and guard Soner Senturk (194-86, agency: 1x1 Sports) added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Bornova. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Turk Telekom maintains ninth position with 11-17 record, which they share with Tofas. Bornova lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth place with 21 games lost. Turk Telekom will face bottom-ranked Oyak Renault (#16) in Bursa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bornova will play at home against Banvit in Balikesir.
