Rather expected game when 16th ranked Oyak Renault (3-25) was smashed by thirteenth ranked Mersin (10-18) in Akdeniz 96-64 on Saturday. Mersin dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Oyak Renault's 42. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Oyak Renault's players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Nedim Yucel (203-79) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Alex Scales (192-78, college: Oregon) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. American forward James Mays (206-86, college: Clemson) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks and forward Kerem Ozkan (201-88, agency: 1x1 Sports) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Oyak Renault. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mersin have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Trabzonspor and Erdemir. Oyak Renault lost twelfth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 25 lost games. Mersin will face league's leader Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Oyak Renault will play at home against Turk Telekom (#9) in Ankara.
