Date: April 24, 2011
There was no surprise when 14th ranked Aliaga (8-20) was outleveled at home by third ranked Banvit (21-7) 93-63 on Sunday. The game without a history. Banvit led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Aliaga's 34. They outrebounded Aliaga 39-27 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Banvit especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a very good performance for American guard Keith Simmons (196-85, college: Holy Cross, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American-Azerbaijan forward Charles Davis (202-84, college: Alabama) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Banvit players scored in double figures. American swingman Jarvis Hayes (201-81, college: Georgia, agency: David Lee services) replied with 17 points and Latvian center Kaspars Kambala (206-78, college: UNLV, agency: Alti Sport) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Aliaga. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Banvit maintains third position with 21-7 record having four points less than leader Fener.Ulker. Loser Aliaga keeps the fourteenth place with 20 games lost. Banvit will face Bornova (#15) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Aliaga will play against Trabzonspor.
