Third-ranked Efes Pilsen (20-8) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Fenerbahce Ulker (25-3) in Istanbul on Sunday. The visitors managed to secure only two-point victory 72-70. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Efes Pilsen. Efes Pilsen was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 19-18 charge of Fenerbahce Ulker, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 10-8. Efes Pilsen was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Croatian guard Roko-Leni Ukic (195-84) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. The former international center Oguz Savas (208-87) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Fenerbahce Ulker players scored in double figures. International power forward Kerem Gonlum (208-77) replied with 19 points and 9 rebounds and Serbian guard Igor Rakocevic (191-78) added 20 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Efes Pilsen. Efes Pilsen's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fenerbahce Ulker have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 25-3 record. Efes Pilsen at the other side dropped to the fourth place with eight games lost. Fenerbahce Ulker will face Mersin (#13) in Akdeniz in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Efes Pilsen will play on the road against Besiktas (#6) in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
