Regular Season Round 28: Galatasaray - Besiktas 81-73
Date: April 25, 2011
Rather predictable result when second ranked Galatasaray (22-6) won against 6th ranked Besiktas (18-10) in Istanbul 81-73 on Monday. Besiktas was trailing by 10 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 25-16 charge of Galatasaray, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Ermal Kurtoglu (208-80, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Forward Caner Topaloglu (199-85) contributed with 16 points for the winners. The former international guard Serkan Erdogan (190-78, agency: 1x1 Sports) replied with 17 points and 4 assists and Australian center Andrew James Ogilvy (211-88, college: Vanderbilt) added 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) in the effort for Besiktas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Galatasaray maintains second position with 22-6 record having just three points less than leader Fener.Ulker. Besiktas at the other side keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. Galatasaray will face Olin Edirne (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Besiktas will play against Efes Pilsen in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
