The game in Maribor was also quite interesting. Third ranked Zlatorog (5-3) played at the court of 8th ranked Maribor Messer (1-7). Zlatorog managed to secure a 9-point victory 85-76 on Tuesday. Maribor Messer trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 23-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 76-85 at the end of the game. Zlatorog dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Maribor Messer's 32. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian forward Vladimir Panic (194-82, agency: 011 Sports) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 6 rebounds and guard Luka Lapornik (195-88) who added 11 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Forward Sasa Mucic (202-83) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and Serbian power forward Ilija Zolotic (207-86, agency: BeoExcell) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Zlatorog maintains third position with 5-3 record having just three points less than leader Sentjur, which they share with Union Olimpija. Maribor Messer lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with Elektra. Zlatorog will meet at home Geoplin Slovan (#6) in the next round. Maribor Messer will play against Polzela and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
