Second Stage Round 8: Helios - Polzela 90-74

There was no surprise in Domzale where 5th ranked Polzela (3-5) was defeated by second ranked Helios (6-2) 90-74 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Helios. Polzela managed to win fourth quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Helios looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Benjamin Raymond (198-87, college: Xavier, agency: Impact Basketball) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 assists and guard Grega Mali (197-84) who added 24 points during the contest. Helios' coach Rado Trifunovic used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Uzbekistani center Dmitry Sviridov (212-85) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Stanko Sebic (204-84) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Helios have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 6-2 record having just two points less than leader Sentjur. Loser Polzela keeps the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with Geoplin Slovan. Helios will meet Union Olimpija (#4) in the next round. Polzela will play against Maribor Messer and hope to secure a win.
