Regular Season Round 29: Oyak Renault - Turk Telekom 67-76

Date: April 30, 2011
Not a big story in a game in Bursa where 16th ranked Oyak Renault (3-26) was defeated by ninth ranked Turk Telekom (12-17) 76-67 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 29-21. But Oyak Renault won second period 13-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American center Gregory Stiemsma (211-85, college: Wisconsin, agency: N.E.T.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and the former international forward Yunus Cankaya (199-85) chipped in 17 points. Four Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. Turk Telekom's coach Faruk Akagun used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard William Conroy (187-82, college: Washington) responded with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import forward James Mays (206-86, college: Clemson) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. Turk Telekom maintains ninth place with 12-17 record, which they share with Tofas. Oyak Renault lost their thirteenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 26 lost games. Turk Telekom will face league's leader Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Oyak Renault will play on the road against Banvit (#3) in Balikesir.
