Second Stage Round 11: Helios - Krka 74-79

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Domzale. Leader Krka faced second-ranked Helios. Guests from Novo Mesto (11-0) defeated host Helios (7-4) 79-74. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-15. But Helios won second period 20-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. International guard Zoran Dragic (196-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points. The former international forward Dragisa Drobnjak (200-77, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Krka's coach Aleksandar Dzikic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American swingman Benjamin Raymond (198-87, college: Xavier, agency: Impact Basketball) answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Vjekoslav Petrovic (193-81) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Helios. Four Helios players scored in double figures. Krka have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 11-0 record. Helios at the other side keep the second position with four games lost. They share it with Union Olimpija and Zlatorog. Krka will play against Polzela (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Helios will play against Maribor Messer (#8) and hope to get back on the winning track.
