Regular Season Round 18: Frankivsk - Yuzhna Palmira 78-81

The most exciting game of round 18 in the UPBL UPBL took place in Frankivsk. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Frankivsk (9-7) to eighth ranked Yuzhna Palmira (6-10) 81-78 on Sunday evening. Frankivsk was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 22-18 charge of Yuzhna Palmira, which allowed them to win the game. Yuzhna Palmira outrebounded Frankivsk 49-29 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Serbian center Dragana Vukovic (190-78) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Zhanna Likhodid (177-80) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Russian forward Oksana Horoshavina (186-85) who recorded 15 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Katerina Polyanychka (178-90) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Yuzhna Palmira moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Politeh Basket. Frankivsk at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Yuzhna Palmira is looking forward to face higher ranked Dynamo (#4) in Kyiv in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Frankivsk will play at home against Luganski Last. in Lugansk and is hoping to win this game.
