Regular Season Round 19: Donbas - Politeh Basket 61-73

There was no surprise in Donetsk where 9th ranked Donbas (5-13) were defeated by seventh ranked Politeh Basket (7-10) 73-61 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Politeh Basket. Donbas managed to win fourth quarter 28-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Donbas to just 4 points in third quarter. Politeh Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Donbas' 26. Politeh Basket had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for guard Valentina Voronova (172-80) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Naturalized German center Tetiana Shablynska (191-74) helped adding 13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks. At the losing side forward Inesa Khodova (185-73) responded with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and center Irina Rastorgueva (180-76) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Politeh Basket maintains seventh place with 7-10 record. Loser Donbas keep the ninth position with 13 games lost. Politeh Basket will meet bottom-ranked Luganski Last. (#10) in the next round. Donbas will play against Frankivsk and hope to secure a win.
