Regular Season Round 19: Luganski Last. - Frankivsk 63-116

Bottom-ranked Luganski Last. (0-17) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 116-63 loss to fifth ranked Frankivsk (10-7) in Lugansk on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Frankivsk led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Luganski Last.'s 30. Frankivsk forced 29 Luganski Last. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Luganski Last.'s players. It was a great evening for international guard Arina Markotenko (170-89) who led her team to a victory scoring 31 points and 5 steals. Guard Mariya Dubas (182-84) helped adding 18 points and 7 assists. Frankivsk's coach Yuriy Protsuk felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Ksenia Kirichenko (173-87) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Olena Khotentseva scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Frankivsk moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Dnipro-DVUFK. Loser Luganski Last. still closes the standings. Frankivsk will meet Donbas (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Luganski Last. will play against Politeh Basket in Lviv and hopes to get finally their first victory.
