Regular Season Round 2: Vaerlose - Falcon 73-82

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Vaerlose (1-1) at the home court on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by Falcon (2-0) 82-73. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 1-0 record before this meeting. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Vaerlose won third quarter 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Falcon won last quarter 26-19. 25 personal fouls committed by Vaerlose helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Christian Nielsen (201-86, college: Wagner) who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. International guard Julian McFarlane (184-86) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Falcon players scored in double figures. Falcon's coach Henrik Koll used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Aaron Osgood-Richardson (205, college: Cornell) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and forward Mads Rasmussen (191-86) added 19 points respectively for the hosts. Falcon keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Naestved. Vaerlose at the other side dropped to the fifth place with one game lost. They share the position with Horsholm and SISU. Falcon is looking forward to face league's second-placed Naestved at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vaerlose will play against Aabyhoj and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
