Regular Season Round 2: Dragons - Gotha 64-84

Date: September 29, 2011
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when bottom-ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (0-1) was crushed at home by top-ranked Oettinger Rockets Gotha (2-0) 84-64 on Thursday. The game without a history. Oettinger Rockets Gotha led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Dragons Rhoendorf was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Leo Niebuhr (208-86) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Torvoris Baker (203-83, college: Detroit Mercy) chipped in 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Oettinger Rockets Gotha players scored in double figures. Forward Tim Kasper (198-92) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and guard Nick Larsen (187-83) scored 21 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Oettinger Rockets Gotha maintains first position in Group South with 2-0 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Dragons Rhoendorf still closes the standings with one game lost. Oettinger Rockets Gotha will face TSV Troester (#12) in Breitenguessbach in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Dragons Rhoendorf will play on the road against the league's second-placed USC Leipzig.
