A very interesting game took place in Nurnberg. It ended with only two-point home defeat of bottom-ranked NBC (0-2) to top-ranked Webmoebel Baskets (2-0) 91-89 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. NBC was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 23-19 charge of Webmoebel Baskets, which allowed them to win the game. 25 personal fouls committed by NBC helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Jefferson Mason (198-88, college: Minn.St.-Mankato, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) notched 22 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import swingman Justin Stommes (200-88, college: E.Kentucky, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) supported him with 25 points. Even a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds by naturalized American power forward Ryan De Michael (205-77, college: Tennessee-Martin) did not help to save the game for NBC. Swingman Cornelius Adler (195-89) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Webmoebel Baskets keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted NBC still closes the standings with two games lost. Webmoebel Baskets' next round opponent will be Saar-Pfalz Braves (#7) in Homburg where they are favorite. NBC will play on the road against Gloria Giants (#3) in Duesseldorf.
