Regular Season Round 2: Khimik - DniproAzot 90-84
Date: October 3, 2011
Very predictable result in Yuzhny where top-ranked Khimik (2-0) beat bottom-ranked DniproAzot (0-2) 90-84 on Monday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-84. Khimik looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) scored 16 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import power forward Aaron McGhee (203-79, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 24 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) during the contest. Khimik's coach Darko Russo used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Canadian power forward Michael Fraser (203-84, college: Oklahoma Baptist, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and forward Sergiy Gorbenko (202-85) scored 13 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Khimik keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Budivelnyk and Azovmash. Loser DniproAzot still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with Halychyna and BC Donetsk. Khimik will meet bottom-ranked Halychyna (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. DniproAzot will play against Ferro-ZNTU in Zaporozhye.
