The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Azovmash as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Azovmash smashed 3rd ranked Mykolaiv in Mariupol 96-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mykolaiv. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. Azovmash led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Mykolaiv's players. The best player for the winners was the former international center Maxim Ivshyn (209-86, agency: Beo Basket) who scored 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Oleksiy Pecherov (213-85) chipped in 20 points. American center Daniel McClintock (212-77, college: N.Arizona) produced 15 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Rodney Green (195-88, college: La Salle) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Budivelnyk and Khimik. Mykolaiv at the other side dropped to the fourth place with one game lost. They share the position with Ferro-ZNTU. Mykolaiv will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Azovmash will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Cherkasy at home.
