Regular Season Round 2: Cherkasy - Ferro-ZNTU 79-93

An interesting game where Ferro-ZNTU (#8) won against host Cherkasy (#5) 93-79 on Thursday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Ferro-ZNTU. Cherkasy managed to win second period 25-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Jeremy Chappell (191-87, college: Robert Morris, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) scored 25 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Mike Davis (205-88, college: Illinois) chipped in 15 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. Latvian forward Ivars Timermanis (203-82, agency: Alti Sport) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and FYR Macedonian guard Vojdan Stojanovski (193-87) scored 21 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ferro-ZNTU (2-1) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Mykolaiv. Loser Cherkasy dropped to the sixth position with one game lost. They share it with BC Kyiv and Hoverla. Ferro-ZNTU will meet DniproAzot (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cherkasy will play against the league's leader Azovmash (#1) in Mariupol.
