Regular Season Round 3: BC Kyiv - Dnipro 83-82 OT

Dnipro (#11) forced the game against BC Kyiv (#6) into an overtime, but lost by one point 82-83 on Sunday night. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when BC Kyiv made 9 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Vernon Goodridge (206-84, college: La Salle) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Derrick Zimmerman (190-81, college: Mississippi St.) accounted for 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Goodridge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four BC Kyiv players scored in double figures. International power forward Maxym Korniyenko (205-87) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and international guard Steven Burtt (185-84, college: Iona) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Dnipro in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. BC Kyiv maintains sixth place with 2-1 record, which they share with Mykolaiv. Loser Dnipro still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with Kryvbasbasket and BC Donetsk. BC Kyiv will meet BC Odessa (#9) on the road in the next round. Dnipro will play against BC Donetsk and hopes to get finally their first victory.
