Regular Season Round 5: Vaerlose - Bakken 64-75

Ligaen top team - Bakken (4-0) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat eighth ranked Vaerlose (1-4) 75-64. The game was mostly controlled by Bakken. Vaerlose managed to win fourth quarter 19-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. International swingman Chris Nielsen (192-85) nailed 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and the former international center Chris Christoffersen (218-79, college: Oregon) accounted for 19 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Mads Rasmussen (191-86) came up with 18 points and American forward Adam Wire (195, college: Cornell) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Vaerlose in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bakken have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 4-0 record, which they share with Svendborg. Vaerlose lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Horsens IC and Aalborg. Bakken will meet Aalborg (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vaerlose will play against SISU in Copenhagen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
