The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Telekom Baskets as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Telekom Baskets defeated bottom-ranked LTi 46ers in Bonn 83-67. The game without a history. Telekom Baskets led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Tony Gaffney (204-84, college: Massachusetts) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import center Chris Ensminger (209-73, college: Valparaiso, agency: Limelight Hoops) accounted for 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Telekom Baskets players scored in double figures. Bosnian power forward Elvir Ovcina (211-76, college: Syracuse, agency: Interperformances) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and American swingman Maurice Jeffers (194-79, college: St.Louis) added 10 points and 9 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) respectively for LTi 46ers in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Telekom Baskets have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they took over a top position. LTi 46ers at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Bayreuth. LTi 46ers will play next round against Artland Dragons trying to get back on the winning streak. Telekom Baskets will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners at Frankfurt.
