There was a surprise result in Quakenbrueck where fourteenth ranked Artland Dragons (1-1) outscored higher ranked TBB Trier (1-2) 88-62 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Artland Dragons led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to TBB Trier's 22 and made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Artland Dragons looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Artland Dragons made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American swingman Adam Hess (201-81, college: William & Mary) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points. His fellow American import power forward Anthony King (206-85, college: Miami, FL, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocks. Four Artland Dragons players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Serbian forward Dragan Dojcin (205-76) with 19 points and American point guard Dru Joyce (183-85, college: Akron) scored 15 points and 6 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Artland Dragons left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser TBB Trier dropped to the thirteenth position with two games lost. Artland Dragons will face bottom-ranked LTi 46ers (#18) in Giessen in the next round and are hoping to win another game. TBB Trier will play at home against ratiopharm Ulm (#5).
