Regular Season Round 2: Final Genclik - TED Kolejliler 83-78

There was a minor upset in Bursa where higher ranked Optimum TED (1-1) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Final Genclik (1-1) 83-78 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-78. Final Genclik made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Optimum TED was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward Orcun Okkali (201-87) who scored 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. point guard Erdem Ilter (-90) chipped in 10 points and 7 assists. Nigerian-Canadian swingman Olumuyiwa Famutimi (198-84, college: Arkansas) produced 20 points and 6 rebounds and guard Ilker Turel (190-83) added 7 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Final Genclik left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with 7 other teams including defeated Optimum TED. Final Genclik will face Gelisim (#16) in Izmir in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
